On Tuesday, 9th July of this year, I experienced an accident that could have been far worse if not for the grace of God. A driver ran into my car, and while I survived, the impact on my right passenger door was intense. Despite the jarring experience and the pain I began to feel in both knees, I brushed it off. I had work to do, and I didn’t want to interrupt my schedule by running around to the hospital. So, I kept going.
Fast forward 20 days later to 29th July, I woke up one morning and could barely move my knee. I couldn't flex it, climb stairs, or do anything beyond standing straight. Realizing that something was seriously wrong, I went the hospital an X-ray scan. That's when the real drama began.
The X-ray technician, after examining my left knee, noticed something odd—a mass in the bone. My sister, who’s a doctor, was with me at the time. Though she tried to stay calm for my sake, I could sense her concern. She immediately took me to another surgeon, who confirmed that the mass might have been missed if the X-ray technician hadn’t spotted it. The doctor recommended that I do a CT scan as soon as possible.
That’s when I knew this situation was more serious than I initially thought. My sister became unusually persistent, calling and checking in to make sure I had gone for the scan. Normally, she is calm and collected when I’m unwell, but this time, her anxiety was palpable. It was clear to me that she feared something worse than she was letting on. When I confronted her, she admitted that she was worried about the possibility of a tumor, either benign or cancerous, and that bone issues can escalate quickly. She just wanted to rule out the worst-case scenario.
I went for the CT scan the next day, and the period between the scan and receiving the results was filled with tension. My sister was anxious, which only heightened my own concern. When the results finally came in, I was shocked. The scan confirmed the presence of a lesion in my bone, aligning with my sister's suspicions. However, by God’s grace, the report revealed that the lesion was benign and had healed on its own. I was in disbelief. I thought to myself, How?
This discovery was particularly surprising because, although I had pain in my right knee—the knee most affected by the accident—the lesion was in my left leg. The doctors explained that this condition likely existed before the accident and had somehow healed without my knowing. I had experienced occasional leg pain in the past, but I always dismissed it, assuming I was just tired.
Reflecting on all of this, I can’t help but see the hand of God at work. If it weren’t for the accident, I wouldn’t have had the X-ray that uncovered this hidden issue in my left leg. It’s a clear reminder that God is always taking care of us, even in ways we don’t see or understand. Things we aren't aware of—things happening inside our own bodies—God knows and takes care of them before we even realize there’s an issue.
I just want to say, God is faithful. He looks after us in ways beyond our comprehension. If not for this accident, I wouldn’t have known about the lesion, and now I’m able to move forward, knowing that God is always with me, guiding and protecting me.
For that, I simply say, thank you, God.
