Scorn me,
Scoff at me,
Lie about me,
Attack my character,
Attack my integrity—
Make sure you do your worst.
Tell me I am small,
Belittle my capabilities,
Write me off as a nuisance,
Tell them to stay away from the wild dog
Just so you can isolate me—
Make sure you do your worst.
Make sure you do your worst,
Give it your best shot,
Make sure you do your worst.
Make it so with every strike,
I stay on the ground.
Make sure you break the ground
When you attempt to break me—
Make sure you do your worst.
Make sure you cut my tongue
After you break me and the ground.
Make sure you gouge my eyes out
After you cut my tongue.
Make sure you separate my soul from my body.
Make sure I do not survive,
Lest my soul pursue you.
Give it your best—
Make sure you do your worst.
But sorry to burst your bubble,
Because I will survive.
No man can kill me.
Nothing can stop me but the fear of God,
And once I have His consent,
It’s off with your heads.
Your heartlessness—
It energizes me.
I love it when you hurt me;
It drives me to go harder.
I love it when you belittle me;
I come back stronger.
I did not care about sitting on that pinnacle,
But when you said
A person of my type
Cannot sit there,
I told myselfI will sit there,
And sit on yours too,
Just because you said I can’t do it.
Your threats—
They energize me.
Your insults—
They energize me.
Your condescending gazes—
They energize me.
The only way to stop me
Is to do nothing,
Because I love a challenge.
So if you must see me fail,
Then you must stop.
But you won’t stop.
Because whether you stop or not,
I will never stop.
So make sure you do your worst—
Because you energize me.
